It’s been 365 days since the Lord has come into my life. This has been the first year of my life in a sense. I am so different in thought and in intention; I have fallen short more times than I care to admit but despair can’t have me. I am thankful for the woman the Lord has shown me I am called to be. I am excited to continue to grow in Him from Glory to Glory; to take occupancy in His name of all things and to eventually rule with Him.

In honor of our anniversary, I have listed three of the ways the Lord has begun to transform me.

  1. Good ideas turn into God ideas.

I’ve always had a plan for my life, it’s been planned out since primary school. My ideas for who I am, what career I should pursue and family goals have been shaken and stirred. Jeremiah 1 is the perfect example of this in the Word, The Lord said before Jeremiah was formed in the womb, He knew him and called him. The Lord already had a plan for his life,

“See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out and to pull down, to destroy and to throw down, to build and to plant.”

Jeremiah 1:10 NKJV

When we get into a relationship with the Lord, we have to realize He has already planned out all of our days (Psalm 139: 16). We have to surrender our goals to be filled with His desires. The best part is that what He has planned is far greater and magnificent than our lowly, shallow desires.

  1. Selfish ambition < God direction

This area of transformation is just a more expounded version of the first. We have a choice to either follow the leading of God in all areas or to do our own thing. As His people chosen for His Glory, we are expected to lay down ourselves for Him to live through us. This mandates that every decision must be looked at through the introspective lens of who is being gratified? Romans 6:10-11 gives understanding that Jesus Christ died to sin once for all and the life He now lives, He lives to God; that we may also live our lives in the same manner now (dead to sin and alive to God). In my opinion, this is the hardest part; denying myself to follow Him but I’ll try everyday because He is beyond worth it.

  1. Worldly principles < Spiritual truth

This change is dealing more with the mindset and learned behaviors. The word of God is Jesus Christ so we have to obey it because you can’t separate the two. The word of God is living, as I just mentioned, and is full of Spiritual revelation to transform our spirit and mind.

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

Romans 12:2

Looking at this practically is once again, dissecting the things (words, actions, opportunities) in our lives to determine if it is the will of the Father. Now we know we do not walk around carrying the bible at all times, flipping through pages in order to determine this. Thank God this is where The Spirit of Truth, known as the Holy Spirit, is capable and willing. The Holy Spirit dwells inside all of those who are truly the sons of God, He speaks to us and gives us direction through everyday life. The biggest separation of the world and God’s elect is the leadership.

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.”

Romans 8:14

When we are under Godly management we will be in this world but not of it, there will be a distinction in numerous areas.

In one year, I believe I am just getting my feet wet in the things of God. I am grateful that He did not let me keep living life as a walking dead man but has made me alive by His Spirit. I was baptized when I was around ten years old, allegedly I had gone to my mom and told her ‘it was time”; my pastor, at the time, was diligent in asking me if I knew the giant leap I was taking on and I knew. I don’t remember this but I know that even then it was the Lord; that on April 26th, 2019 He revealed Himself to me. He called me into His light, to live and to know Him.

“For He says, In the time of favor (of an assured welcome) I have listened to and headed your call, and I have helped you on the day of deliverance (the day of salvation). Behold, now is truly the time for a gracious welcome and acceptance [of you from God]; behold, now is the day of salvation! [Isaiah 49:8.]”
